New Facebook sucks big time

I have just waisted almost a day of my life trying to create a ”page” in Facebook. In the days of the old Facebook this was fairly easy to do. The usability of Facebook has always been terrible, but creating a Facebook “page” could typically be done in less than half an hour.
But now Facebook has decided to change to “New Facebook” apparently without testing what this means for people like me – trying to create business critical pages for my company. The whole interface is so full of bugs and inconsistencies which means that pages created in the New Facebook does not show when you are not logged in to Facebook (which is the raison d’etre of “pages”) and pages show differently in the old Facebook and in the new Facebook.
Basically Facebook have created a virtual web 2.0 usability monstrosity, which doesn’t really help people like me arguing that companies easily can use applications like Gmail, Google Docs and Facebook as serious business applications. Google may stay in beta for years, but at least their products are not infested with bugs and inconsistencies. Facebook in this way ends up looking like the company it actually is: A company run by a 24 year old CEO growing too fast for the developers to actually keep up with the growth…

I think what you ought to be more concerned about as somebody trying to set up your Facebook page for your business is that the new Facebook is driving away users like me who find it clunky to navigate.

If people like me, your potential customers, stay away from Facebook because we hate the new version, there'll be no point in your even trying to reach us.

So I ask you, please, as someone that Facebook cares about more than us mere users, please raise a stink with the Facebook folks to go back to the old version. Otherwise, we're going to find some better place to hang out and waste our time online and maybe make an occasional Internet impulse buy. Thanks for reading this.

I agree whole-heartedly, Peter.
One thing is the design. That is, to a certain extent, a matter of taste and opinion.
What I find to be extremely disturbing is the fact that you can set up a page and launch it with a big bang, only to find that half of your target audience cannot yet reach it, because they are still on the old Facebook, and want to stay there for as long as possible.
Not cool.

I can't even navigate in facebook anymore. It searches forever, and returns an error for the page(s). I was finally able to log in today, but anytime I click a link (ie, inbox, etc.) it kills the page completely and I can't log in again unless I empty cookies and temporary internet files. This has been going on for about 5 days now.

The "new" facebook is completely and utterly rubbish. Why bother with it? I'm going back to myspace!

I would stay away from facebook at all costs, it just makes any company look like a joke. A while ago I had visitors to my site create a group, but I would never create an "official" group. Its just a fad, I'm in university and people are already starting to ditch their accounts. Nothing beats a pro. website for your company, and good old email and the phone for correspondence.
